In a move likely to stir more debate over the salaries of MPs and their powers, the legislators have moved to quash the gazette notice that the salaries commission gave to indicate their salaries. The legislators feel they have been discriminated against by the SRC allocating them lower salaries from those of the legislators in the tenth parliament.

The Makueni County senatorial by-election will be held on Monday, July 22, 2013. The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) will hold briefings of political parties on May 28, 2013. Political party primaries are expected to have been conducted by June 3, 2013. In accordance with article 101(4) (a) of the Constitution of Kenya, IEBC received a notice from the Senate Speaker, Hon. With the devolved government gaining momentum in the counties, lists of issues tailored to the needs of the people awaits to be implemented by the County government. Unlike other leaders from different counties, Tia Galgalo, a County women representative from Isiolo is focusing on improving livelihoods of the Community by engaging them with alternative livelihood. “..In that county, I will make sure that I improve livelihood of the community so as to be food secured.”
With the devolved government gaining momentum in the counties, lists of issues tailored to the needs of the people awaits to be implemented by the County government. Thangwa Karongo, an MCA for Ngewa ward is showing true leadership by continuing to serve people albeit other MCA's have boycotted duty for lack of pay. Thangwa who lacks an office, but meets his electorate in an open field at the middle of the market is proving that elective office is about service delivery and not monetary gain. He says “The work of a county rep is to represent the people, legislate and provide oversight to the county government” Thangwa concludes.

Kakamega County has earmarked Bukhungu Stadium for a major facelift so as to provide the youth with a conducive environment to exploit their talents for both social and economic development.

A critical issue were the election of President Uhuru invalidated was the definition of a ‘fresh election’ as contemplated in Articles 138 (5) and 140 (3) of the constitution both which seem contradictory. This controversy was brought forth by the Attorney General Githu Muigai during the court proceedings as a friend of the court. He challenged the court to guide the matter for future reference and also in the case at hand.
