Experts Argue Quashing The Salaries Gazette Notice Inconsequential

In a move likely to stir more debate over the salaries of MPs and their powers, the legislators have moved to quash the gazette notice that the salaries commission gave to indicate their salaries. The legislators feel they have been discriminated against by the SRC allocating them lower salaries from those of the legislators in the tenth parliament.

IEBC Publishes Party Lists of County Assembly Nominees

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission has published in the newspapers, the initial lists of persons submitted by political parties for nomination to the various County Assemblies. The lists are those submitted by the qualifying political parties before elections for purposes of the allocation of the County Assembly special seats (Marginalized or Gender Top-Up special seats). House adjourned as members seek pay rise

KAKAMEGA               Wednesday 8, March 2013          By Kakamegatimes Business at Kakamega County Assembly has come to a standstill after members moved a motion to adjourn the house seeking a pay hike.

Kakamega County has earmarked Bukhungu Stadium for a major facelift so as to provide the youth with a conducive environment to exploit their talents for both social and economic development.

Supreme Court Defines ‘Fresh Election’

A critical issue were the election of President Uhuru invalidated was the definition of a ‘fresh election’ as contemplated in Articles 138 (5) and 140 (3) of the constitution both which seem contradictory. This controversy was brought forth by the Attorney General Githu Muigai during the court proceedings as a friend of the court. He challenged the court to guide the matter for future reference and also in the case at hand.
